Transcript

In the previous video, you took exterior photos of the property from a number of different angles, and we left off on this screen. In this video, we move on to the next step in the Automax flow, which is to conduct a 3D scan of the interior of the property using the LiDAR sensor on your device. We will do this floor by floor, and work our way up through the property.

To get started, click on the “Start Floor Scan” button. This opens up another camera screen, this one slightly different from the last. Before continuing, make sure you are now inside the property. To start the scan, first verify that we are in scanning mode by checking the toggle near the top left of the screen. In the case that the “Scan” option is not selected, simply tap it to switch to scanning mode. Once verified, click the circular white button near the bottom of the screen to begin the scan.

Follow the instructions on your screen to orient your device correctly to get the best scan results. Continue scanning the walls, ceiling, floor, and the connecting edges by slowly panning horizontally as well as moving your camera up and down in a wave-like motion. As you scan more of the floor, you will see a miniature 3D model of what you scanned so far near the bottom of the screen. Use this to determine which walls and edges have been correctly scanned, and which ones you have missed. In case you missed a wall, simply walk back to that area and scan it again.

While scanning, you also have the option of taking a picture of what you’re currently looking at, without interrupting the scan. To do this, while pointing your camera at the subject, simply click the circular button in the bottom left of the screen.

Another thing you can do while scanning is to take verbal notes simply by speaking out loud. You can use this to take note of any improvements, deficiencies, or anything else that you observe. Whatever you say will be transcribed in real-time, and then used by AI to autofill relevant fields in the final report later. If you wish not to take any verbal notes, simply press the mute button near the bottom of the screen to stop recording audio.

Once you are satisfied with the results of the scan, click the “Stop button” near the bottom right of the screen to stop scanning and convert the scanned floor into a floorplan. This brings us to the floorplan editor.

At this stage, if you wish to scan additional floors, you can do this by clicking the buttons with the layers icon near the bottom of the screen, and then from the Floors popup, click the plus button, and then select “Scan New Floor”, and repeat the scanning process.

In my case, since the property only has one floor, I will stop here and in the next video, we will learn how to edit the floorplan that we get from the scanned floors.
